Calculating your Grade Point Average (GPA) is one of the most critical skills every DELSU student should have. It allows you to track your progress and know exactly where you stand after each semester.

Understanding the Basics

In Delta State University, we use a 5.0 grading scale. This means an 'A' grade gives you 5 points, while an 'F' gives you zero.

  • A: 5 Points (70% - 100%)
  • B: 4 Points (60% - 69%)
  • C: 3 Points (50% - 59%)
  • D: 2 Points (45% - 49%)
  • E: 1 Point (40% - 44%)
  • F: 0 Points (0% - 39%)

The Formula

The formula for GPA is simple: Total Quality Points ÷ Total Credit Units.

A Quality Point is the Credit Unit of a course multiplied by the grade point you earned. For example, if you get an 'A' in a 3-unit course, your Quality Point for that course is 3 × 5 = 15.
